It became apparent in early 2017 that they were ‘missing a trick’. Throughout the last 20 years of trading, Elm have forged relationships with some of the UK’s leading office furniture manufacturers, this long term relationship and annual spend has ensured that they are able to procure office furniture products at the very best prices. Great… so instead of just offering it to their clients on fit-out projects why not sell it online too? This is a £400m industry each year!

Here’s where the fun starts… Elm approached us and asked if we could develop them a complete eCommerce solution which would allow them to sell products from the UK’s leading office furniture manufacturers. This may sound pretty straight forward, but after some quick calculations we amassed this to over 150,000 SKU’s all with product variants; different sizes, colours, configurations and prices.

After several scoping meetings we were clear on our direction, clear on our target market and had a strategy in place. The solution was a fully bespoke Magento 2 website that would allow their staff to add and edit products, process orders, integrate with Sage and Google shopping, process shipping and delivery notes, manage SEO meta data, run reports and handle 1000’s of customer accounts and process hundreds of orders each day.
The site launched in the summer and we have seen online sales soar in excess of 50K pcm. The website has so much indexed content with Google that the Elm sales team are now collecting leads for the fit-out side of their business too. The plan for the next 12 months is to integrate the site with Amazon and push to double the sales through tracking conversions, SEO and paid search.
