"We don’t want to look like a call centre"

Danone is a world-leading food company with a global presence in over 130 countries, operating across four business lines: fresh dairy products, early life nutrition, water and advanced medical nutrition. Danone are passionate about their mission ‘bringing health through food to as many people as possible’.

Danone had recently had a full office refurbishment at their London HQ in Chiswick with a plan for a second office to be refurbished in Bristol to house their CBS (Central Business Services) team. The site which CBS operated from looked worn, lacked inspiration and didn’t look or feel anything like the recently refurbished HQ. We were approached by the Danone marketing team and asked if we could make a positive impact to their staff through the use of branding throughout their new office. Of course we said yes.

Working with an existing colour palette and a strong set of brand guidelines we had to be creative and innovative with our approach whilst always adhering to the global brand.

The initial brief was simple...
“We don’t want to look like a call centre”
“We want to look part of Danone but have our own (CBS) identity”


What an opportunity, what a challenge. We had strict budget restrictions in place so had to give careful consideration to application and use of materials throughout the project. The finished result was an inspirational open-plan working space that housed in excess of 200+ super happy Danone employees.

We developed a 3D acrylic lighting pillar to create an ambient glowing light reminding all employees of the core messages of all four businesses. We needed the team to have areas throughout the floor where they were able to share ideas, thoughts and collaborate with each other. We created the ‘Celebrate – Learn – Share’ giant blackboard wall which staff were encouraged to use to share ideas. Another key area developed was the ‘Listen, Grow & Share’ wall where acrylic speech bubbles were designed acting as giant whiteboards for messages and collaboration.

The corporate message of ‘together we make a difference’ was the main touchpoint when entering the floor, this was highlighted alongside a map of the British Isles, lit with LED globes to highlight Danone’s locations throughout the UK and Ireland.

What did we do?

  • Redesigned the nursery graphics
  • Made 4 meeting rooms individual yet inspirational
  • Allowed staff to share via 2 collaboration walls
  • Created an area where staff could stand up and work / share ideas
  • Maintained corporate brand guidelines
  • Gave CBS their own identity
  • Stayed within the allocated budget
  • Inspired 200+ staff and made them love coming to work
  • Delivered the project within 12 weeks
