At Bubble, we believe that being part of our local community means more than simply doing business here. Giving back, supporting local charities and making a positive difference are an important part of who we are as a team.
As part of our ongoing social impact work, our team recently spent a day volunteering at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, helping to maintain the beautiful outdoor spaces around the hospice.
Supporting Bluebell Wood through volunteering
Bluebell Wood is a wonderful local charity that provides care and support to babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as their families. Based in North Anston, the hospice provides a home-from-home environment where families can spend precious time together, alongside specialist care, family support and activities for children and young people.
The hospice is surrounded by around 6.5 acres of gardens and outdoor spaces, which provide an important place for families to relax, spend time together and make special memories. Bluebell Wood’s own garden volunteers help maintain these spaces throughout the year, carrying out everything from general maintenance and weeding to planting and larger garden projects.
During our volunteering day, we were split into different groups and worked across various areas of the grounds, helping with a range of gardening and maintenance tasks.
It was a great opportunity to get away from our desks, spend some time together as a team and, most importantly, do something practical that could help the hospice and the families who use it.
We were also treated to a complimentary lunch during the day, which was very much appreciated!
Making a difference in our local community
Volunteering at Bluebell Wood is just one example of how we try to make a positive contribution beyond the work we do for our clients.
Social impact is an important part of life at Bubble, and we’re proud to support local charities and good causes through volunteering, fundraising, sponsorships, community initiatives and our Future Talent Programme.
We give our team dedicated volunteering days each year, providing everyone with the opportunity to use their time and skills to support causes that matter to them. Whether we’re getting stuck into a community project, raising money for charity or helping the next generation of creative talent, we believe that small contributions can make a meaningful difference.
It’s something we’re passionate about continuing to build on, and days like this are a great reminder of why giving back is such an important part of our culture.

“I really enjoyed the day, and not just as a day out away from a computer screen! All the staff were really friendly and chatty. We even sat and had lunch with a table of staff members who were all lovely and interested to hear about Bubble.
We had an in-depth tour around the facility and gardens in the morning and could tell they were so passionate about their work and the help they provide the children and their families. It just seemed like a really lovely place. All of the medical equipment is hidden behind cupboards so the rooms just look like normal bedrooms.
They have a memory garden designed by Alan Titchmarsh where families can still visit once their child has passed, it has separate access so they don’t have to go through reception, they can just pop in without having to interact with anyone which is really thoughtful. Each child that has passed has a pebble in the garden with their name engraved. It was quite emotional but heartwarming at the same time how much care they provide.
They let us just crack on tidying the garden area for them and supplied an ungodly amount of biscuits, tea and coffee. It was definitely worthwhile; the garden looked great after a bit of a pruning!”

“I’m not great at gardening, but it was for a really good cause and when I got there I really enjoyed it. It was also nice getting to know Bluebell Hospice, their ethos and what drives them to help those in need. We had a great tour around the place. Kelly was very helpful, as were the regular garden volunteers there. We also got to know some of the wider staff.
A children’s hospice is something that hit me a bit, as I was seriously ill when I was 14/15, and got help from various Children’s charities/hospices. So once I got to know the company and what they did, I wanted to help more.”
